I’ve posted about the All City Jam a few times before; it’s an annual event taking place in the Tivoli Theatre carpark down in Dublin. The 2018 Jam was unfortunately the last, as (mentioned here) the whole theatre is being demolished to make way for a hotel. As well as being a real loss to the graffiti and urban scene in the city, the location on Francis Street is the hub of the Art and Antiques Quarter in Dublin, and has dozens of antique and retro shops, and galleries. Not forgetting the theatre itself which has played host to a huge variety of shows, from music, to drag queens to wrestlers. Let’s hope the new hotel doesnt completely gentrify the entire area.
On to the day itself; more than 50 writers and artists painted the walls, surrounded by skaters, riders, and hundreds of spectators, all under a blazing sun. Check out some pics below (and thanks to the brilliant Visumlatens for a few of them!), mostly of artists in action and works in progress. Hopefully I’ll get down again before the demolition to see the awesome finished pieces.
Check out all the artists I’ve tagged here and follow heartgiraffe on Instagram for great photos of the finished pieces, and tonnes of other art around Dublin. Also make sure to follow the organisers All-City Dublin on Facebook for upcoming events and pics.
And if you can, try to get down to Dublin soon, and see this iconic part of the city before it’s gone.
